At Alexander Youth Network, our team’s dedication transforms lives every day. Today, we’re proud to spotlight Marcus Mickell, whose journey is a testament to resilience, passion, and the impact of compassionate care.

Marcus began his career at Alexander in May 2021 as a Behavioral Health Counselor, where he worked directly with children facing significant emotional and behavioral challenges. His ability to connect with kids and provide them with the support they needed led him to become a Learning & Development Mentor, where he helped train and guide new staff members. Today, Marcus serves as Program Supervisor at our Crisis Center, leading efforts to provide stability, structure, and healing to children in crisis.

His role has not been without challenges. Marcus has worked with children who have experienced severe trauma—many of whom have struggled with trust, regulation, and a sense of safety. One unforgettable experience involved a young girl who arrived at the Crisis Center frequently running away, shutting down emotionally, and battling overwhelming fear and uncertainty. Through patience, consistency, and a trauma-informed approach, Marcus and his team provided a structured environment that balanced accountability with unwavering support.

They worked with her to develop coping strategies, rebuild her confidence, and create a space where she felt seen, heard, and valued. Over time, she began to open up, build trust, and develop a sense of self-worth. When she left the program, she wasn’t just in a better mental space—she was stronger, more confident, and ready to embrace her next chapter.

Marcus’s story is just one of many at Alexander, where passionate team members go above and beyond to help children heal, grow, and thrive. His journey is a reminder of the power of commitment, connection, and believing in the potential of every child.

Join us in celebrating Marcus’s dedication and the life-changing impact he has made!
